After the great success of the 1st festival in 2004, there'll be a new SUMMER TRAD FESTIVAL! At the same spot - exactly at 50 degrees northern latitude - Irish music will meet hot summer temperatures. Tickets are available on this website. SUMMER TRAD is the only open-air festival in Germany, that is organised by musicians of the German "Irish trad scene".
The venue is the 600 year old fortress of Rüsselsheim (address:
"Hauptmann-Scheuermann-Weg"). Driving from the A3, you take the exit "Raunheim", coming from the A67 you take "Rüsselsheim Ost" and coming from
the A 60 you take "Königstädten / Nauheim". Keep going towards city centre
following signs "Museum" or "Opel-Villen". The "Museum" is based in the
fortress itself, while the "Opel-Villen" are situated near the entrance to
the fortress.

Top act of the festival are SÉAMUS BEGLEY and JIM MURRAY and it's their
first performance in Germany ever! Box-player and singer SÉAMUS hails from
Cuas on the Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry, while JIM is from near Macroom, Co.
Cork. BEGLEY & MURRAY are the ultimate duet between button-accordion and
guitar. Their album "Ragairne" was branded "Album Of The Year" in "Hotpress"
and "Folk/Traditional Album Of The Year" in the "Irish Times". No to be
missed!

MIDNIGHT COURT are Aaron Shirlow (vocals, guitar) from Belfast, Noel Minogue
(box, vocals) from Tipperary and Bernd Luedtke (fiddle, bouzouki, bodhrán,
vocals) from Berlin. They effectively increased their popularity during the
participation in the “St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Festival” between 1997
and 1999. Their 2nd album “Ear to the ground” followed and continued rapidly
to find international recognition.
In 2001 their 3rd album “Ring the bell...run like hell” was highly reviewed
in the international press. Momentary climax in the band’s career is the
participation in Ben van Cauwenberghs modern ballet “Irish Soul” for which
they wrote the soundtrack.
Current album: "Ring the bell … run like hell" (2001)

Instrumental wizards from different German cities came together to found
STEAMPACKET. Stephan Schneider (fiddle), Tina Fastje (fiddle), Claus
Steinort (flute), Rolf Wagels (bodhrán) and Tobias Kurig (bouzouki)
concentrate on Irish tunes, instrumental music from other European regions
and own compositions. They play their multi-layered arrangements both
relaxed and powerful – musician's musicians under steam!
Current album: "Homecoming" 2004"
At the end of the festival the ALL-STAR SESSION will bring all musicians back on stage again…
